Sunny and mild? For the TV weatherman, that's pretty much the forecast for almost every day of the year in Southern California, but when you're a California Scuba Diver, you need to get a more complete look at the conditions. Make sure to check the tides and swell reports too so you'll be properly prepared to dive beneath the waves. |

Going boat diving? Check the NOAA marine forecast to see what's going on out there. From point conception to the farther south islands like the Coronados. |

High-tides are always best for visibility. Generally, clearer water lies farther from shore, less water movement right? At high-tide, the tidepushes that clearer water closer to shore. The difference may not bedramatic, but enough to make a signifigantly clearer, thus better viz. If you're worried about bad visibility... get on a boat. Also remember your depth and dive site planning will be affected so take note and get your self a tide chart from your local dive shop! or just go to Eco Dive Center in Los Angeles. |

Check out the Pacific storm systems yourself. But don't let it fool you because being a weather-man or weather-woman isn't easy. This link is for the more advanced SCUBA/Weather-person. |
