Deco Procedures Course at Eco Dive Center

  Tec Diver

This course examines the theory, methods and procedures of planned stage decompression diving. This program is designed as a stand-alone course, but is
often combined with the Advanced Nitrox or Extended Range Courses. The objective of this course is to train divers how to plan and safely conduct a standard staged decompression dive not exceeding a maximum depth of 45 meters / 150 feet. The most common equipment requirements, gear set-up, and decompression techniques are presented.

Pre-Requisites:
Minimum age is 18 years, Advanced Nitrox, Proof of 75 logged open water dives

 Open Water Dives:

1. Four dives are required two of those dives must be deeper than 100 feet
2. If Advanced Nitrox is taught in conjunction with Decompression Procedures, only a total of six dives are required. tec

Structure:
Technical Divers International allows instructors to structure courses according to the number of students participating and their skill level.

Material:

Technical Divers International Decompression Procedures Student Manual.
Required Diver Performance and Requirements Maximum training depths shall not exceed 150 fsw. The following open water skills must be completed by the student during all open water dives:

Land Drills

Selection and preparation of equipment suitable for soft overhead environments Conduct team oriented drills for lift bag deployment Conduct team oriented drills for gas switching procedures Gas matching among buddy teams Demonstrate familiarity with basic and technical hand signals Demonstrate adequate pre-dive planning for decompression profiles

Pre-dive Drills

Use START* before every dive START is...
S-Drill (OOA) &  Bubble Check
Team / buddy equipment checks
Air / gas matchingdeco divers in Los Angeles
Route / entry & exit, planned path underwater Tables / depth, duration, way-points & schedule

In-Water Drills & Demonstrations

Buoyancy control - ability to hover at fixed position in water column without sculling
Awareness of team members through communication, proximity and team oriented dive practices
Demonstrate comfort swimming at the surface and at depth carrying single decompression stage cylinder
Demonstrate ability to drop and retrieve single stage cylinder while maintaining position in the water column
Demonstrate the ability to deploy a lift bag at depth solo and as part of a team
Demonstrate controlled staged ascent on lift bag
Remove and replace mask, deployment of back-up mask
Demonstrate how to manage manifold, first stage, SPG, and primary regulator free-flow situations
React to BC inflator malfunction
Perform gas switches at depth with team members
Buddy breathing procedures for at least one minute
Demonstrate appropriate modifications to decompression schedule for emergency purposes
Tired Diver Tow at depth and at the surface
