More About Me
The next year, I decided to go exploring and backpacked for a few months up the east coast of Australia, diving all the way. Wrecks, live-aboards, the Great Barrier Reef… I couldn’t get enough. Eventually I got a job as a scuba instructor on Tortola (British Virgin Islands) and embraced the whole tropical experience. Living on a sailboat, I spent every day jetting between islands, picking up divers and guiding them on famous dive sites. Soon my Caribbean pirate stories and ship wreck legends became second nature.
The BVI’s were amazing, but after a year, I was ready to come home. There is nothing that compares to an early morning dive off of Catalina as the sunlight trickles down through the kelp forest. I’ve been full-time with Eco Dive Center since May 2007 and I love my job! You can find me in the shop during the week and usually in the pool or on a boat teaching on the weekends. Stats

Favorite Dives
A sea mount way out – 100 miles from San Diego (nearly in Mexico) . The visibility was 80-100 feet, the kelp forests were untouched, and the lobsters were just cruising around.
This pinnacle starts at 65 ft. off the backside of Catalina. I hit the water at 6am, just after sunrise. A school of bait fish was circling as I descended… so beautiful and peaceful!
Off of Salt Island in the BVI- 310 feet long, she went down in 1867 in a class 5 hurricane. The bow is still intact in 90 ft. and it is covered in coral and marine life. The resident 6 ft. barracuda is named ‘Spike’. 4. “S.S. Yongala” ship wreck (Australia) Off of Townsville, Australia. She sank in 1911 and has become an artificial reef surrounded by sand. I encountered sea snakes, reef sharks, and a grouper the size of a car… apparently they call him VW. My Gear
BCD- Sea Quest “Libra”
Regulator – Apex “Tungsten” Wetsuit- Aqualung “Aquaflex” full 7mm Everyone has experienced the pain of squeezing into wetsuits. I used to allow 20 minutes to get suited up, the Aquaflex only takes me 30 seconds to put on… enough said.
Fins- Atomic “Split Fins” These fins go easy on the legs, but still provide a powerful kick. Since I do all kinds of diving, they offer the flexibility that I need
