Kim "Daffy" Ponsot
My Gear & Why...
Regulators: Apex XTX 200 din, xtx octo, Love these regs because their ease of breathing at depth is unsurpassed
Dive Computer: Suunto Vytec DS with transmitter. Suunto reliability without the conservative plans, does decompression dives and multi gas dives, great for any diver, especially those that are into tech or like to go deep! It is a wrist top computer but with a larger face than the D9 and flatter than the VT3 its the perfect size for me(it can also be transformed into a retractable format for those of us that don't like wrist tops) Back up Computer: Suunto COBRA 2, reliable, hosed, air integrated, with a digital compass and quick disconnect, another computer that is easy to read and use with flawless performance. Buoyancy Control Device: Zeagle Stiletto, features back inflation, their own "rip cord" weight release technology, and pockets, it is super streamline and very comfortable for women and men (although most men prefer the ranger - same design larger dimensions) Personal snorkelong gear: Mares X-Vision Liquid Skin & Atomic Frameless Mask - both high quality silicone making the seal soft and comfortable on both, although i prefer the low volume of the frameless over the x-vision. Tusa X-pert Zoom fins, soft flexible split fin technology makes for easy - less strenuous kick cycles especially for surface swims. Tank: Steel 77, small low pressure, with the weight I need to take some out of my bcd. Tech Gear:
Single webbing harness on an OMS al back plate. OMS Larry Green Bladder (45lb lift) and 2 High Pressure 80s from XS SCUBA held together with Highland cylinder bands and XS valves. Regs: XTX 200s, I do plan on getting the new tech version with all the ports on one side made for left and right valves as soon as possible!
DIVE GOALS: My more immediate goals lie in personally certifying and nurturing a student from open water through their divemaster courses, being a part of that journey seems like one of the most valuable and rewarding accomplishments an instructor can have. On a personal level I look forward to completing my technical dive training as well as eventually becoming a tech instructor within the next few years, because my heart really lies at the BOTTOM of the ocean, and my desire to go deeper just keeps getting stronger. I hope to reach the 300 ft mark by 25 years old and 500ft by 30.
