Drift Diver Certification Course at Eco Dive Center

Drift diving is the ultimate ride in scuba. You catch the fast currents that rip along a wall then sit back and watch the marine aquarium show unfold like a movie. Brilliant corals, sea fans and all manner of colorful fish come into view then fade into the distance behind you as the show goes on and on.

The same currents that bring so many nutrients and life to a spot also bring the big fish who have addresses closer to the top of the food chain. Ask any drift divers and they’ll tell you that taking the ride is the way to see the big stuff.

In the Drift Diver Specialty course at Eco Dive Center, you’ll learn the skills to deal with the special procedures of drift diving. After a classroom session where you will cover the special knowledge involved in drift diving, you and your instructor will plan and organize two ocean dives.

In the ocean you will put your knowledge to use as you practice entry and exit techniques for the conditions, learn to avoid contact with delicate marine life and structures and deploy your surface marker buoy to keep visual contact with your surface support.

Prerequisites:

Advanced Open Water
DAN Diver protection

Equipment Requirements:

All students must have a Surface Marker Buoy (aka: SMB)
Finger reel or spool w/50ft of line
Dive knife or shears
Whistle or other surface sound signaling device
Writing slate
