There is something about the oil rigs that bring out the adventurer in all of us.  These mysterious structures can be seen from shore and reach hundreds of feet down into the open ocean.  Regular people don’t even consider swimming around them let alone under them.  Divers are not regular people though.  Come join us on a true advanced adventure dive as we do 2 dives at the famous oil rigs.   Located off Long Beach, the Ellen, Elly, and Eureka rigs are truly a must-dive.  The Eureka is the deepest sitting in about 720 feet of water while the Elly and Ellen are in about 260 (yes, both are WAY past recreational limits.)  Not just anyone can swim out the nine miles and dive these huge structures.  They sit in federal waters so you need special permission.  Luckily we are special.  
                Diving the rigs requires great buoyancy and is like no other.  The legs are home to normally reef-bound animals and plants and the majority is seen in the first 80 feet.  From sea lions to nudibranchs these legs have it all.  Schools of fish are known to circle the legs and many open water species can also be found making appearances.  Be wary, currents can be strong and the viz can be 10 feet one day and a 100 feet the next.  You can find shelter from the currents among the beams and cross-beams.  Navigating the legs is done completely naturally since the metal will mess with your compass.  The boat does not anchor so all divers should be equipped with a surface marker buoy in the unlikely event that they get separated from the group.  The dives are considered advanced, so keep that in mind when booking.  If you have any questions, feel free to call the shop.  These tickets will go fast.

Orientation night is free and open to all interested in becoming a part-time, full-time or hobby-job scuba instructor. The road to instructor is filled with the most intense and demanding dive training in scuba and it's the best time you'll have. Becoming a scuba instructor isn't easy, but it's some of the most rewarding and intense training you'll do in your scuba diving career. When you ask? "Orientation Nights" take 20-30min on the first Tuesday of every month proceeding the monthly club meetings.
