Drysuit Specialty Certification Courses Every Weekend
Remember back to your open water course... Water conducts heat away from the body 25 times faster than air. With that in mind, a drysuit works similarly to a wetsuit. But instead of trapping water next to your skin, the drysuit traps a layer of air. You wear insulating garments under the drysuit that keep you warm and add to suit's effectiveness. Because air is a better insulator than water, the drysuit keeps you much warmer. Are you a nitrox diver? That longer bottom time you enjoy with enriched air can often exceed your wetsuit's ability to keep you warm. The longer you're in the water, the more a drysuit makes sense...

Ocean acidification presentation by S.C.R.I.P.P.S Research Diver March 3rd 7pm
The oceans act as a global sink for carbon dioxide. By absorbing large amounts of the gas, they act as a buffer against rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere caused by anthropogenic activities. As more CO2 enters the ocean, however, it also lowers the water pH, making it more acidic. This process, known as ocean acidification, is often called "the other CO2 problem." It has become one of the most important challenges facing shelled animals like corals and bivalves because the acidic conditions cause their calcium carbonate shells to dissolve. I will give a brief overview of the water chemistry behind ocean acidification and some recent science concerning its potential implications.
Green IS the New Black
Come on guys, if you really want to impress the chicks, it's time you put that speargun down and get down and dirty. Because California has some of the best beaches in the world, and we're lucky that our Californian culture believes in the preservation and care of our beaches. Even still, trash and other debris does end up on our beaches, and it's important for us to do our part. Of course, this is Eco Dive Center we're talking about, and we can turn just about anything into a party.
